RMHC IRELAND

What does Ronald Mcdonald House Charities do?

We enable families to stay close to their child for as long as they are undergoing treatment in CHI at Crumlin. Here at The Ronald McDonald House Ireland, we help families face the weight of their child’s illness together.

Families staying with us do not worry about where they’ll be sleeping that night, their next meal, where to park the car and general day to day living we take for granted when at home.

The type of support you provide?

We provide a home away from home. We currently have 20 bedrooms for families, but we will have 52 in our new home at the National Children's Hospital.

Aside from the room and space to shower and refresh, we provide a home cooked meal everyday, a kitchen space for you to cook for yourself, a play room so the siblings can socialise and an outdoor space to meet and chat to other families. We provide an essential care pack to our families and have nappies and baby care essentials for new Mums. We do everything we can to care for the whole family and help them create special memories despite living through some of the worst times a family can endure.

Is there a referral process to access this support?

Families can self refer as soon as they are admitted into CHI, Crumlin. We also accept referrals from the hospital staff as well as social workers.

Is there a charge or commitment fee?

We ask our families to donate €10 per night for their stay.

Is there a waiting list?

As we only have 20 rooms available each evening, we always have a waitlist. You can put your name on the list on the day of admission to CHI, Crumlin. We do not accept pre waiting. Rooms become available regularly but we have no control over the waitlist as it depends on current families being discharged.

Service User Testimonial

"RMHC Crumlin honestly was a shining light on those very dark days. Despite what we were going through in the hospital with our daughter we still have some wonderful memories from the house. The guys are all like our extended family and we can't thank them enough for looking after us"
